This position will work under the supervision of the pharmacist. Performs routine duties in packaging, distribution and record keeping of pharmaceutical supplies. Assists in preparing compounded and intravenous medications, total parenteral nutrition products, and chemotherapeutic agents. Consistently demonstrates an ability to assess a situation, consider alternatives, and choose the appropriate course of action. May work with the Pharmacist in processing physician orders for medications by entering information in to the medication management system in an unverified status. May educate, train, and oversee the activities of the Pharmacy Technician, Technician Externs and Volunteers. Fairbanks Memorial Hospital is looking for a Surgical Services Pre-op/PACU/Stage 2 Registered Nurse in beautiful Fairbanks, Alaska.  The Perianesthesia unit is comprised of Pre-Op and PACU Phase I and II.  PACU is an 12 bed unit located in our recently built state-of-the-art Surgery Center and boasts seven new operating suites with cutting edge technology. The dynamic Peri-Operative Department team provides care to patients of all surgical specialties of all ages from neonates through geriatrics (excluding neuro and cardiac) and averages 22 cases per day. Fairbanks Memorial Hospital is looking for a Surgical Services Pre-op/PACU/Stage 2 Registered Nurse in beautiful Fairbanks, Alaska.  The Perianesthesia unit is comprised of Pre-Op and PACU Phase I and II.  PACU is an 12 bed unit located in our recently built state-of-the-art Surgery Center and boasts seven new operating suites with cutting edge technology. The dynamic Peri-Operative Department team provides care to patients of all surgical specialties of all ages from neonates through geriatrics (excluding neuro and cardiac) and averages 22 cases per day. POSITION SUMMARY This position provides operational oversight of all point of care testing (POCT) in the facility, as well as monitoring equipment and maintenance records to ensure quality assurance compliance with all regulatory and accrediting agencies. This position is responsible for the delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients using the medication use process (selecting, prescribing, dispensing, administration and monitoring of medications). Performs comprehensive assessments and analysis of drug therapy in collaboration with patient care team members.   Accountable for on-going evaluation and documentation of all components of pharmaceutical care delivered to patients. Oversees the activities of the pharmacy technicians, coordinating workflow and checking all medications prior to being dispensed. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients being served. Must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status, interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements and provide pharmaceutical care based on those needs.
