This position will serve as the subject matter expert as well as advanced support for the Supply Chain team. Responsible for performing all functions related to the receiving, shipping, and distribution of materials and supplies for the hospital supply chain department in addition to educating, directing training, overseeing activities and mentoring other receivers.
· Oversees incoming orders and verifies orders are accurate and intact, including special orders. Documents and communicates damage, shipping errors, and/or other discrepancies. Inputs supplies received and prints receiving ticket(s). Applies property tags when applicable and notifies appropriate party for items requiring electrical safety inspection.
· Audits incoming orders for accuracy, proper storage, temperature, and/or damage; resolves discrepancies in orders; marks items for distribution; and prepares various receiving and shipping documents.
· Assists with inventory management and storing of supplies. Recognizes and provides input towards opportunities for improvements in work practices, processes, and financial performance, to decrease costs, improve productivity, improve service, and work group dynamics.
· Assists with training, performance reviews, and counseling/disciplinary action under the supervision of the department leadership.
· Schedules and supervises the work of assigned staff to ensure smooth work flow in the department. Acts as a knowledge resource to staff in matters of department processes, technical skills, equipment, supplies and/or regulatory requirements.
· In conjunction with the department supervisor, trains, performs competency, and guides the performance of staff. Provides daily direction to staff. Acts as a mentor and coach and provides development and growth opportunities for staff. May assist with development of departmental policies and procedures.
· Develops and maintains an effective communication mechanism with all external and internal customers. Exemplifies service orientation and behaviors in all contacts. Identifies, addresses and communicates opportunities to improve work processes and enable achievement of goals in quality, productivity and customer satisfaction.
· May be assigned daily oversight of staff workflow, operations, financial activities, and safety and policy standards.
· Coordinates and participates in special projects as assigned. Perform all duties of a receiver as needed for breaks and/or absence coverage as directed by department leadership.

· A broad understanding of medical supplies and materials items and handling requirements as normally acquired through three (3) or more years of related work with shipping & receiving and medical supplies.
· May be required to possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible for coverage under the company’s auto insurance policy.
· Must have effective organizational skills to accurately maintain records and coordinate various inventory control functions, the mathematical skills to calculate quantities and pricing, and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. · Previous knowledge of Materials Management Information System.
· Must demonstrate ability to lead and motivate team, requires the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision and to work independently. Must possess excellent organizational skills, demonstrates critical thinking skills as well as effective human relations and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
· Knowledge of medical supplies and equipment.
· Additional related educations and/or experience preferred.
