Overview

Incumbent is accountable for recording the cost of newly acquired tangible and intangible fixed assets. Complex accounting duties include general ledger reconciliation, financial reporting and recordkeeping. Maintain, monitor, calculate and record depreciation for all capital and fixed assets. Assist and participate in financial asset audits. Develop and monitor a system of controls. Conduct periodic physical inventory of fixed assets. Record fixed asset acquisition, transfer and disposition. 

 

This is an in-person position in Fairbanks, Alaska.

 

Pay & Benefits:

  • Compensation: $36.44 to $58.30 wage based on experience and education

  • Schedule:
    Full-time, 40 hours per week, 5x8 hour day shifts Monday through Friday, Occasional weekend shift may be required

Responsibilities

  • Performs work under general supervision. Handles moderately complex issues, problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Generate, balance and post monthly sales and disposition reports as well as depreciation reports to the Greater Fairbanks Community Hospital Foundation
  • Transact monthly capital expenditure reconciliation and reporting of assets.
  • Ensure all systems, policies and procedures to identify, record, value, depreciate, account and reports are followed.
  • May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentorship to others.
  • Build good working relationships at all levels across the organization, establishing respect and confidence in the information provided.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Management, Finance or closely related field. May substitute Master's for 2 years of experience.
  • Requires a proficiency level typically attained with four (4) to six (6) years of direct experience in progressive accounting.
  • Possess solid working knowledge of subject matter.
  • Must have excellent analytical and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities with changing needs and deadlines.
  • Requires excellent human relations skills and the ability to effectively interact and communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels staff and outside professionals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ten (10) plus years of progressive accounting experience that includes at least two (4) years of fixed assets management or inventory control experience.
  • A Master's degree in any of the above listed fields.
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
