The Opportunity:

We are looking for a pediatric hospitalist to join our team at a community hospital in Fairbanks, Alaska. Wait…keep reading! We are a supportive, tight-knit group of pediatricians with a collaborative, “we’ve got your back” approach. We are seeking the right fit to help care for infants and children needing hospital services in our community.

  • BC/BE in general pediatrics plus PALS/NRP needed
  • Approximately 1100 deliveries/year with peds in attendance at high-risk deliveries
  • 24/7 in-house coverage divided amongst our 7-person team in 12/24 hours shifts with flexibility in scheduling
  • Full time is 6-7 scheduled 24hr shifts/month (additional shifts/compensation possible)
  • Average pediatric hospitalist census 8-12 patients per day
  • Ample/flexible days off to help to explore life outside of work
  • Hospital areas covered: Newborn Nursery, Level 2 NICU, High-risk deliveries, Pediatrics, ED/Surgery consults, Stabilization of patients prior to transport
  • Attending Physician for intermittent rotating pediatric residents/medical students
  • Opportunities for medical staff involvement and leadership growth
  • Competitive salary and benefits with 1.0 FTE at $386,428 per year

  • 152 bed community owned hospital with catchment of approximately 100,000 people
  • Dedicated inpatient pediatric unit and level 2 nursery
  • Pediatric subspecialists available with reliable assist by phone
  • PICU in Anchorage (1 hour away by plane)
  • Seattle Children’s Hospital—Alaska Track pediatric resident site

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate of an approved school of medicine with licensure in state where he/she practices.

Board Eligible/Board Certified by appropriate certifying board. Current DEA number.

 

Must apply for and maintain Medical Staff membership and clinical privileges at appropriate facilities if required by Physician’s employment agreement. Requires commitment to healthcare and concern for people in distress, critical listening skills and ability to communicate clearly, desire to work with all types of people and work as a team member and excellent interpersonal skills. Able to meet desired business outcomes while maintaining quality of care. Must be willing to routinely update skills.

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
