This position assists physicians by providing high-quality specialized diagnostic and interventional catheterizations, cardiac device implantations, and peripheral vascular procedures. Interventional radiology procedures as well as hybrid OR procedures. The incumbent must demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of FHP information systems and PACS. The Senior Cath Lab Tech provides various support functions that contribute to the overall efficient operation of the unit, such as precepting and mentoring employees on unit procedures. Additionally, the position performs quality assurance on procedural equipment and may facilitate annual physicist inspections. Able to document pertinent procedure details, evaluate results, and other data using appropriate formats and systems.

 

Pay & Benefits:

  • Compensation: $44.09 to $70.54 hourly wage based on experience and education
  • Retention Bonus: $30,000 Retention Bonus for eligible new hires

Responsibilities

  • Performs skilled Cath Lab duties as required and defined by department protocols, including radiographic diagnostic/interventional special procedures by following verifying and referring to providers’ orders. Uses independent judgment and applies learned methodologies according to established policies and procedures.
  • Ensures seamless orientation of new and/or transferring clinical staff, supports and develops non-certified and certified Cath Lab staff by precepting. Acts as a role model for proficient clinical practice, patient safety, and evidence-based practice. Supports an environment and infrastructure that promotes professional growth and advanced skills. May assist with onboarding new physicians to the department.
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of department equipment and software applications such as: inventory management system, Cath lab EHR system super user, C-Arms located in hybrid and Cath lab, Cardiovascular PACS, Intravascular ultrasound systems, etc. Educates staff on the technical application of equipment and facilitates any maintenance needs. Coordinates with customer support to resolve technical issues and monitors equipment repair progress while maintaining closed-loop communication with leadership.
  • Maintains department inventory to ensure patient services are not interrupted. Collaborates with supply chain management for vendor relationships and Cath lab inventory needs.
  • Assist in training Cath lab staff on new products, maintain and adjust par levels in accordance with needs. Facilitates cycle counts and Bi-Annual inventory reconciliation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
  • Must possess a certificate or diploma from an approved/accredited program in one of the following: Radiologic Technology (RT) program, Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) program, Invasive Specialist program (RCIS)
  • National Certification American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) required.
  • This position requires the clinical knowledge typically obtained with at least five (5) years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience.
  • BLS and ALS required.
  • Must demonstrate practical communication and human relations skills, analyze data, and solve problems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred certification.
  • Additional related education and experience preferred.
