Overview

This position performs ordered electroencephalographic (EEG) procedures, which may include sleep studies, to inpatients and outpatients. This position analyzes data during the recording, making certain that the information being obtained is valid and interpretable. This position manages, cleans, sets up, and orders Respiratory Therapy equipment.

 

OJT (on-the-job training available)

Position Available

Per Diem (with call approx. every 3 weeks)

Responsibilities

  1. Performs prescribed standard electroencephalographic procedures and polysomnograms in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. 
  1. Analyzes, identifies and documents procedures as outlined by departmental policies and procedures to maximize patient outcome. 
  1. Ensures an accurate and readable recording using deductive reasoning to trouble shoot minor problems and make adjustments as needed during the procedure. 
  1. Collects and/or reviews pertinent medical, historical, and medication information in order to perform the appropriate study prescribed by the physician as outlined by departmental policies and procedures. 
  1. Assists with activities to improve department processes, facilitate testing and maintain quality to achieve optimal patient results. 
  1. Assists in scheduling of patients, charge entry and maintains equipment as outlined by department policies and procedures. 
  1. Assembles, disassembles, maintains, and cleans durable medical equipment and circuitry used in the delivery of respiratory care as prescribed in accordance with established department/hospital policies and procedures. 
  1. Assists in monitoring and ordering of respiratory therapy equipment.

 

Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Foundation Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.

Qualifications

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

 

Requires one of the following: Registry by the Board of Polysomnographic Technologists (RPSGT), Registry by the American Board of Sleep Medicine (RST) or R. EEG T. certification from the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET).

 

Must demonstrate critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

CRT or RRT credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).

 

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
