Our float pool team at Fairbanks Memorial is beloved across the organization. We are responsible for staffing 6 units across the hospital. Our float responsibilities include floating to:
Behavioral Health
3West surgical unit
Pediatrics
2South medical unit
Women’s Center for mother/baby couplet care
Intensive Care unit
This job is ideal for an independent learner who loves to critically think in a flexible and fast-paced environment. No two days are the same when you are in the float pool and you’ll soon make friends all over the hospital. We would love for you to expand your knowledge base and learn to care for a variety of patients in a supportive and team based environment.
While working in an acute care environment, this position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care of acute patients. This position provides care in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice, utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under their direction. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data, plan, provide, and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.

FMH Medical/Surgical Float Pool has the following shifts available:
Full-Time (36 hours per week) 12 hour shifts - Day shift
Part-Time (24 hours per week) 12 hour shifts- Day shift
Full-Time (36 hours per week) 12 hour shifts – Night shift

Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Foundation Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.
Must possess a valid current or temporary Alaska RN license. Requires the knowledge and skills normally demonstrated by an Associate's degree in nursing. BLS certification is required. May require ACLS, PALS, or additional certification and/or continuing education based on area of practice.
Requires creative thinking, prioritizing, and flexible problem solving skills. Also requires the ability to communicate clearly in both verbal and written forms.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree preferred, but not necessary.
Experience working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse.
